Performer Grant Request Procedure
Purpose of Grant
To support the career advancement of classical singers with connection to East Tennessee who have been identified as having significant potential for success in the operatic/classical music field.
Criteria For Receiving A Grant
1. A signed contract for a professional performance of a role new to your dramatic operatic or concert repertoire
2. A signed contract for compensation for the participation in a young artist program or apprentice program with a significant professional producing organization.*
3. Evidence of an audition tour with confirming documentation of specific audition times from significant professional presenting organizations.
Grants Available
Applicants may request support for purchasing concert attire in the case of #1. Applicants may request compensation for audition fees in the case of #2 and #3. Applicants may request support for learning repertoire in the case of #1 and #2. Applicants may request general support for travel and other expenses in the case of #3.
Process for submitting applications
Applicants will submit a written, narrative application along with the necessary supporting identifiers as enumerated in section II along with an itemized list of expenses to be covered by the grant. The application materials will be reviewed on a regular basis by the screening committee of Friends of Opera. The committee will review all materials and notify the applicant of the decision within four weeks. Please note that video or audio submissions and/or live auditions are not a part of the initial application process but may be subsequently requested by the committee.

What are your terms and conditions?
All grantees authorize Friends of Opera to use their name and likeness on its website and for media purposes.
Grants will generally cover itemized expenses as requested up to $1000 per application. Support for concert attire is limited to one grant per person. Requests for grants must be itemized and receipts for each itemized expense must be submitted to the Friends of Opera upon expenditure of the grant money.
